We perform gentle extractions for patients who need to have a tooth removed, whether it’s due to impacted wisdom teeth, gum disease, infection, or trauma.
Putting Our Patients’ Comfort First
We know the phrase ‘tooth extraction’ might sound a little intimidating. However, believe us when we say, that tooth extractions can genuinely be discomfort-free. Using minimally invasive techniques and equipment, our experienced dentists can remove a problem tooth with ease and diligence. Local anaesthetic is used to numb the area, and the tooth is extracted using forceps. We will make sure you leave the practice with the pain medication you need, as well as easy-to-follow aftercare advice.
We always encourage patients to contact the practice if anything doesn’t feel quite right in the days after the extraction.
Why Do I Need to Have a Tooth Removed?
You may need to have a tooth removed if:
- You have a loose tooth.
- You have gum disease.
- You have a severe dental infection.
- If root canal treatment is not possible to save the tooth.
- If your wisdom teeth are impacted.
- If you have crowded teeth.
Do I Need to Replace The Extracted Tooth?
If you have had a tooth (or teeth) removed due to crowding, or your wisdom teeth have been removed, these do not need to be replaced. However, if you have had a tooth removed that carried out fundamental actions like chewing and biting, we recommend having this replaced as early as possible.
Treatment like a dental implant not only addresses the gap in your smile but maintains the health of your jawbone. Implants are also the most stable and tooth-like solution.
Once your jaw has recovered from the extraction, we can discuss your tooth replacement options, so that you can get back to having a full, functional smile again.
